One work stream of the EDICa project (https://signs.hw.ac.uk/projects/edi-caucus-edica/) focuses on the career lifecycle and identifying relationships between key career and life events and their mutual impacts, making recommendations for reducing barriers to inclusion across the research career. One focus is on experiences of people who menstruate, and one study has concentrated on the experiences of deaf women working in UK universities who use British Sign Language. Five deaf women were interviewed about how they navigate the university workplace and their menstrual health. Drawing on Jones’ (2013) applied linguistics framework of health and risk communication, the study examines how discourse, modality, and institutional structures shape deaf women’s access to MH support and information in universities.
