My research centres around International Sign (IS) conference interpreting. With the establishment of more structured and formalised IS trainings, significant transformations are occurring within the field. Interestingly, although national sign language interpreters are predominantly female, a considerable number of male practitioners is working in the IS interpreting context. My study incorporates two research participant groups: deaf and hearing IS interpreters as well as deaf professionals working with IS interpreters. The objective is to explore their respective experiences, including both challenges and successes, with particular attention to the influence of gender and other social identities.
